If you ship dangerous goods by sea, you must comply with the IMDG Code. The IMDG Code requires that employees involved in shipping dangerous goods receive training (IMDG Code 1.3).
This course takes approximately 3 – 4 hours to complete and covers:
- A general awareness of dangerous goods
- What dangerous goods are and how they are classified
- What training is required and why
- Responsibilities of those sending dangerous goods by sea
- How to pack, mark and label items in accordance with the IMDG Code
- How to document dangerous goods shipments according to the IMDG Code
- How the IMDG Code applies in the United States
You will experience:
- A fully interactive environment, with built-in learning checks and a final exam.

- A record of training (certificate) upon completing the final exam, which can be emailed, printed or downloaded.
- Easy record-keeping: your certificate will be saved in your online account for 3 years from the completion date.
This course is NOT for certification of personnel who classify dangerous goods, write SDS’s, test packagings/select authorized packagings. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure their employees are trained commensurate with their responsibilities and may need additional training.
